Before the G6, I had the Note 5, Galaxy S7 Edge, Honor 8 and Oneplus 3T. That was from Jan to May of 2017. All those phones were great (Honor 8 being my fave), but like many in this forum, I had the itchy finger. When ATT had their 50% off sale back in late May, I decided to try the G6. Now almost 5 months later, I still have it. This is a surprise because I swore off LG products when my LG TV and the refrigerator died within a month of each other. And I also had the LG G4 which did the bootloop. But the G6 surprised me and here's my "long term" take.

Pros
- Size - For me, the G6 is the perfect size. This has a bigger than screen, but a smaller form factor than Honor 8. That's crazy. It is the most comfortable phone I've ever used. Because of the 18:9 screen, it makes the phone narrower which makes it comfortable to hold. I could never get a comfortable grip on a phone like Note 5 or Oneplus 3. Great phones, but just a little too wide for my hands.
- Screen - I love the 18:9 screen. I might be one of few who actually likes the LCD screen. AMOLEDs are nice, but I like the cool colors of LCD. Everything looks crisp and sharp. And I do prefer the flat screen. No more accidental touches.
- Camera - What's not to love? The main camera takes great pictures. And the wide angle is the best use of dual lens camera. I can take pictures other phones can't. I think I use the wide angle about 40% of the time.
- Speed - It's fast. I've had no issues for everyday usage.
- Battery Life - I'm happy with the battery life. By end of the day (11pm), the phone is around 25%. Not a heavy user, but I do the usual: text, Facebook via Chrome, Instagram, some banking, Boom Beach. This is around 3:00 hours of SOT.
- Fingerprint Sensor - Works fast and the location is perfect. And the double tap to wake/off is another great, underrated feature. Don't know if I can use another phone without this feature.
- Others - GPS works fine. Finds my location generally fast, although it'll have a hard time indoors. It could be the building I work, but outside, the GPS is quick. Phone calls are fine. No big issues.
- 2 Year warranty. This helps. Big reason why I took a chance on LG again.

Cons
- This is my second G6. My first one did a weird random reboot few times a day. Had my second G6 for about 2 months now. So far no issues, but for now I'll leave it in the con side.
- For some reason, screen shot doesn't work on my phone. Tried the power, volume down, but it just won't work. If it annoys me enough, I might request an exchange.

That's about it. The V30 looks tempting, but it could be too big for me. If they upgraded the G6 with an updated processor and use the same camera as the V30, then I might jump at that, but for now, I'll keep the G6.

I co-sign your comments on the LG G6. It continues to impress me and I am feeling that this may be the best smartphone I have owned in a long time.

Blackberry Curve > Blackberry Bold > HTC Evo 4G > HTC Inspire > HTC One X and One X+ > Moto X > Galaxy S6 Active > Moto X Pure (2015) > Galaxy S7 Edge > LG G6 > ????

You know you can use Ok Google to take a screenshot? Very useful, because it gives you a cropped version of your screen, so no notification area or buttons showing.

Does the glass scratch easily? Just wondering what to expect. I'm thinking using a case would occasionally have dust go underneath and scratch the glass. I heard there was also a problem with the camera glass scratching easily.

I currently have the V20 and can say the phone is snappy and quick, very rarely, if almost never, running into problems. I still prefer the bigger size but glad people can choose between a small and big size phones like the G6 and V20/V30. Though I disagree with some of the design choices, I felt LG did an excellent job with the G6, definitely a massive improvement in design from the G5. I wish LG kept the flat glass like on the G6 for the V30 but looks like they are going to curve all their phones.

Do your random reboots have to do with plugging the phone into your car? Every once in a while when I plug into the car my phone might reboot. It's strange.

Any piece of glass will scratch when it meets a sharp or jagged edge. The folks complaining about it act like the threads of their jeans are scratching the glass. I haven't had any issues and I've had the G6 a couples days after launch.

Glass is an extremely poor material if used in a manner not related to a display... It's extremely brittle and scratches easily. Our world is surrounded by stuff that is far harder than it. And since it's optically transparent, any scratch causes light to refract in every direction, making even the faintest of scratches easily visible. What price vanity..

Any glass bodied phone will be prone to getting uglied up... We just have to deal with it.

Bought one for my wife and myself to replace our aging Nexus 5s (also LG). No issues whatsoever. Screen shots work fine for me. Have several wireless chargers laying around and since the batteries usually last the whole day, just throw them on the charging pads over night. (Once we got use to the convenience of wireless charging we could never go back to a phone that doesn't offer it.) Also like LG's minimal skin. OEM folio cases were a tad pricey, but I like they way they fit and protect. Hoping these will also last us another 3+ years. Old Nexus 5s will be relegated to when we travel abroad and use local SIMs.

using my G6 since april...zero issues..i have 64gb version with hifi dac.....i live in bombay india...waiting to see hows the V30..even my wife wants to get rid of her s7 edge i told her choose between note 8 or V30.....But wide angle camera is too good...i wonder y cant LG push portrait mode with their cameras...

I'm so glad you are loving your G6! It's such a wonderful device.

Also, as someone who had the G3, the double tap to wake/put the phone back to sleep feature is wondrous. It's a feature I really miss and one I'm demanding for my next phone haha.

Also, that's cool that you used the Honor 8! I have one too! What colour did you have? :)

Somewhat disappointed in my G6, to be honest. I was on a G4 that was working fine after 2 years, but my wife needed her first phone so I handed that down to her and upgraded to the G6.

Very little difference in daily performance compared to the G4. If fact, smoothness is a little worse. Despite troubleshooting, still a fair amount of "micro lag" on my G6. Maybe the will disappear with the Oreo update (whenever that may be).

Not a bad phone at all, but considering the price, I regret the purchase. I should have got her a budget android phone and stuck with my G4.
