I took one last look at the DroidX before my 30 days expired on my Incredible. I was tempted by the bigger screen after being very frustrated with trying to type on the portrait keyboard (just too narrow for me despite multiple tap keyboards I've tried), but after playing around with it in the Verizon store, it just felt laggy to me and not as polished as the DInc with Sense.
I repeatedly had to tap at least twice to get programs to open on it, scrolling was choppy compared to the DInc, and I had read that the speaker was pretty low for ringers and calls, which is a non-starter for me too (I did call weather on my phone and the X and the DInc definitely was louder).
The X is a nice phone and actually seemed to have a brighter screen, but that thing is a little too big for me IMO (I'd have to get a new holster, car dock, etc for it to fit, whereas my old Storm stuff fits my DInc fine), and the Sense widgets/experience is a lot nicer looking and smoother, IMO too. So I'm sticking with the DInc.
And to help my too narrow portrait keyboard issues, I just installed Swype and ShapeWriter (clone of swype) and it's actually as good as people say (I was hesitant about the idea of swiping to write). I actually like ShapeWriter better as it predicts works with double letters better instead of doing the loop thing to double up a letter in Swype.
My DInc felt very tiny in my hands after playing with the X too, which was weird. But my iPod Touch seems a lot smaller to me now after using the DInc which is a lot taller screen - LOL.
Anyways, just thought I'd give my 2 cents on the ongoing DInc vs X.

I couldn't part with my D-INC. totally for the X either .Similar reasons as what you mentioned , its just easier to carry around to.
