Hey guys I'm looking for a certain app that turns on your wifi automatically when you go home and then turns it off when you leave the house and also turns on your mobile data when you leve the house. Any suggestions?

Tasker, Profile Flow, and Llama should be able to do that.

Cool thanks wifi-matic works great! Just tried it out by walking outside then walking back inside the house, love this app :)

Battery Guru does this as well. Works with any Snapdragon CPU.

I installed this app.. So far I like it.. So I shouldn't have to turn my wifi off when I leave my house?

As was stated, Tasker and other apps do this job well. I've taken to using nfc tags recently as they require less battery use. I have a tag in my car that toggles wifi and bluetooth and Play Music.

I don't understand why you would need this. This happens automatically with my phone. I leave both wifi and data turned on, and they switch automatically when I am near a wifi that I have signed into.

What happens is when I leave my home my wifi stays on but I jump to network.. I periodically see the wifi icon and prompts to connect while I'm driving around. I don't want to have to turn wifi off when I leave my house and back on when I get home. This app automatically does this for me now. Saves battery and time

Hmm. I guess I don't look at my phone when I'm driving around. I live in California where it is a cardinal sin to even THINK about your phone when you are driving. I can see how that would happen if you drove by open wifi.

Well even if you aren't driving.. If you have wifi on but not using it your phone keeps searching and trying to use it..
I don't want every coffee shop or wifi trying to connect and giving me notifications on my phone when I'm away from a location that I want saved in my preferences.

Ok, gotcha. I can see how that would be a drain on the battery.

What I do is purchase NFC tags and use NFC APPS LIKE taskr to initiate such things. When I get to work, I just tap my phone to the tag and it automatically switches everything. When I leave work, I tap the same tag and it goes into my travel mode (each tag can have 2 programs).

When I get home I just tap the nfc tag at home and boom.... Home mode.

I tried taskr without nfc and it does work, but not quite as fast or efficiently as nfc.

There are settings to prevent your phone from connecting or searching for open wifi networks... Go to settings, clcik the bar that says wifi (not the on/off) hit menu, go advanced and play around. Mine only connects to my network, only looks for my network, and doesn't search all the time.

Seems to me even if only looking for your home network it is still looking.

Nope...it only detects and connects TO your network when that network signal hits your phone. As in....Your wifi is SENDING a signal...your phone RECOGNIZES said signal and connects. Your phone only LOOKS for a network if you tell it to. Uncheck the box that says "Network Notification" (after setting up your network of course) uncheck "Wifi network notification", uncheck "Notify me", and any others you want. Your phone will ONLY connect to your network when it's in range and receives the "Hi, I'm here" signal from your network. Any extraneous ones beforehand, press, hold, and choose "forget".

Right.. you only have to sign in once (if necessary with password) and it will automatically connect for you when the phone sees it... As far as I notice, wifi takes priority over data connection.. so if you have already setup wifi, then it will use wifi otherwise it will stay with the cellular data... I don't see why you need an app for that.. The native system already doing the work for you unless I miss something here...

Do you guys not understand that if you turn on your wifi at home then leave your home.
You have to manually turn off your wifi or else it keeps looking for the wifi to use it. Having a app will save your location, tower and home so that when you drive away from home your wifi turns off. This keeps you from having the little wifi symbol at the top of your phone with a exclamation mark when you are out away from your home network. Yes of you go home it will connect back up but I don't want to ever have to push my wifi to turn it on our off. The app will store various wifi locations and only connect or turn on when you go to those locations then it turns off when you leave them. I have messed around with my wifi settings and read previous posts and I can't do what I'm trying to explain without the app.. Try it and play with the app.. Am I missing something here myself?

Seems to be like there's some debate going on here haha, the app I downloaded does it's job well. When I get home it turns on the wifi automatically and then when I leave my home it turns it off automatically. The good thing about this app is that it remembers and only connects to my home router. When I leave the house, it does not search for other wi-fi's or so I don't think... But if I want to save another WiFi connection, I think I have to do it manually with this app.
