For my droid history i went from the Droid 1 to the Vibrant to the Fasinate, while I was over on the vibrant it had the same Swype and Android keyboards, but it also had the samsung keyboard, which i cannot find on the Facinate. Does anyone have the apk or know where i could find it? I actually preferred that keyboard over the other two.

Thanks
Steve

Ditto. There another thread about this. Yes, we have the APK, but it won't install. Nobody has figured out how to port it to the Fascinate yet, which makes no sense at all considering they are both from the Galaxy S line. I'm hoping someone gets to the bottom of how to get it working soon.

In the meantime, popular alternative keyboards include:

Better Keyboard
SwiftKey
Handcent
Smart Keyboard Pro

I'm not particularly a big fan of any of these alternatives, but if I had to choose one, it would be SwiftKey.

Smart Keyboard Pro is all I use on every Android phone I've owned. Seems to be the most stable, customizable and well supported keyboard out there. I love the fact that the spacebar is twice the size of the standard keyboards. It's the one key you use the most and the fact that most other keyboards have a huge period key boggles my mind because if you double space it creates one for you! Anyway...Smart Keyboard Pro...how I roll.

Thanks Cory,
I will have to look into those options. Hopefully there is some solution out there somewhere for the Vibrant APK, maybe along the same lines as why the Google Search widget is disabled, even though it is installed. Will keep looking and hoping.

+1 for Smart Keyboard Pro...it also supports multi-touch.

I've had my Fascinate for about 4 days now. I'm getting used to it and breaking it in. I've had 3 BB phones over the course of 3 years previously so this is my first attempt at a Droid experience. So far, I like everything about this phone and the Droid OS EXCEPT the keyboard. To be honest, it's the one thing on this phone that is frustrating me.

I will try the suggestion of buying one of the keyboard apps. Does one of these keyboard apps have the spacebar at the bottom and in the middle of landscape? Also, I've been messing around with the keyboard settings but can't seem to turn off auto-word completion completely. I hate typing to only look back at my message seeing how often android turned "we" into "well". Very annoying.

Does the fascinate run touchwiz 2.5 or 3.0? Perhaps the update comes with support for the Samsung keyboard?

I figured out how to turn off auto-complete all the way. It was a setting under "swype". :) Much better!
