Looing for a modern phone that fits in my wife's jeans pocket

My wife is rather petite (and so are her jeans pockets) and wants a phone that is smaller than her current HTC One (M7) which is 137.4 mm (5.41 in) H x 68.2 mm (2.69 in) W. The problem is we have Verizon, but if it means switching carriers, we'd consider it.

Sony Z5 compact and 4.7" Alcatel idol 3. Not really a lot of options for newer phones.
