Looking for Feedback from Previous Pixel 3 XL Owners

So, I was at Best Buy yesterday and played with Pixel 4 XL. I currently have Pixel 3 XL. A bit of history, I upgrade yearly, had original Pixel and Upgrade to Pixel 2 XL and then Upgraded to Pixel 3 XL. The Pixel 4 XL is the first pixel that I see no need to upgrade to. I played with the phone for 20 minutes and honest to God, it felt no different than my pixel 3 XL (except for notch vs large forehead. Pick your poison I guess).

So, that being said, can I get previous Pixel 3 XL owners to chime in as to how their current pixel 4 XL is a worthy upgrade?

Thanks!

It might make more sense to move this to the Pixel 4 forum -- would you like me to do that?

I have given my feedback previously, not sure what you are looking for since you look to be not that into Pixel 4 anyway but keep thinking about it. Honest question, why not just forget about it and be happy with the pixel 3 XL if you think it's not an upgrade and not worth it for you? Does it matter at the end if I or someone else thinks if it's an upgrade or not?

Anyway on a lighter note, happy new year !!!

I like upgrading every year. Simply interested if previous Pixel 3 owners glad they upgraded and if so, what part differentiate the 2 phones the most from user experience perspective (not interested in spec comparison)

Happy New Year

Coming from a Pixel 2 owner, I personally thought the 3 line was awesome. The 4 line left much to be desired (in my opinion, anyway).

If you are unsure, but still love your Pixel 3 XL, why not wait for the launch of the Pixel 5? That way, you'll still hang on to your 3 XL and if you don't like the 5, then you can get the 4 at a discount. It's win win win!

As I mention in the original post, I am not as it just felt like my pixel 3 xl without a notch but a forehead. So just looking for previous 3 xl owners to give feedback based on daily use. Just curious more than anything. So ya, no not looking to replace mine at this point.

👏👏👏 Preach!

I’m wishing I kept my Pixel 3XL but sold it for one of my last 6 phones. I’m not upgrading to everything anymore so I’m debating what to get to keep for awhile and I’m thinking it will be the S11+ or Note 10+ 5g. But the 4XL is pretty sweet if you want face unlock and a zoom camera.

I found the face unlock awesome on my Pixel 4.

The telephoto lens is good by itself, but it does not match up in color with the regular lens. When I take a video and zoom in past 2.0x, the video brightness and hue level changes. This is such an amateur oversight.

I didn't go with the 4XL from the 3XL. I might have if I didn't already have the the S10+and Note 10+ but honestly there is nothing ground breaking in the 4 series that should force an upgrade from the 3 series. It's really not different than all the other brands year to year rollouts. Upgrade if you want to is the way I see it.

My p3 was getting noticably laggy at times. If p3 had 6gb ram I wouldn't have upgraded.

Yep, definitely wishes my 3 xl has 6gb. The constant app reload is annoying like heck.

I kept my Pixel 3XL and upgraded my tablet this year instead, with the Samsung Tab S6 w/ 8gb ram.

I love this new tablet, but ironically it's also made me realize facial recognition can be better. It works excellent on this tablet and reviews say pixel does it better.

However, without a wide angle lens, upgrading to P4 is still out of question for me. Just returned from 2 trips and Xmas w family, and there were so many instances I needed a wide angle. Miss it from my old LG. Next phone has to have it.

So true! Google optimizing RAM was always bs. I can't do a simple Google search without returning to the prior app seconds later without it completely refreshing and losing where I was.

Yet no one complained about 4GB on the 2XL or other devices with 4GB from the same timeframe. What changed in one year?

What android flagship device had 4gb in 2018? Remember, pixel phones are flagships. Pixel 3 xl was the only flagship lagging behind the competition when it comes to RAM. Most flagships were running with 6, 8 and 12GBs. If app reload was not an issue and Google actually optimized their OS and hardware to run efficiently on 4gb, no one would ask for 6gb.

I never mentioned flagships and was referencing the 2XL which was from the 2017 timeframe. The Samsung S8 had 4GB of ram except the Asia model with 6GB. The S9 came 4GB and the S9+ came with 6GB. My question remains the same, what changed that all of a sudden 4GB became underwhelming?

I had no issues with app reloading with the 2XL or 3XL beyond practical reason.

If 4GB is inadequate for you then perhaps an upgrade may be in order.
