Looking for Stable ROM/Kernel suggestions

I've just switched to the Fascinate from the Droid X. I've been very frustrated trying to find a ROM/kernel combination that works well, is stable, fast, and has good battery life. It seems like every time I flash a ROM or kernel I end up with something not working - text messaging, phone, Force-close issues... I'm ready to throw the phone back into the Craigslist arena and walk away with an X or a DInc.

Can someone suggest a solid ROM/kernel combination where everything works? Youtube, camera, text, email, phone... It doesn't have to be overclocked, stock speeds are fine. I'm open to voodoo or non-voodoo kernels, but I'd like to keep my radio at DL09. Mostly because I don't know how to change it. Improvements in battery life would be most welcome.

Thanks!

I've always liked using a stock rom, and just debloating it myself. If you want that work done for you, JT's Superclean is good, along with Blackhole. For kernels, I've always used Geeknik's StupidFast v1.54 for nonvoodoo. If stability is a big thing for you, stay away from test kernels.

I am currently running superclean .7 on the stock kernel (no custom available yet) - No complaints yet.

Previously I think I rolled through every ROM kernel combination on DL09..

Best combo was Adrynalyne's superclean .4 and an undervolted kernel from either adrynalyne, jt, or imnuts
