Looking for VR info/help for grandkids

Hello all,
I'm totally out of touch when it comes to VR stuff, as in "I don't have a clue" my daughter in law just said they would use it with an X Box 1 and their iPads. I don't even know if there is a VR set that would even do that. Are there VR units that would work with X Box and iPads??? The kids are only 6 years old and the other is 9 years old. Thanks in advance for any info.
