Looking to get back into android, is The Moto G 2015 the right phone?

So, currently I'm using a iPhone 6 plus. However, I'm looking to get back into the android space and I'm wondering if the Moro g is going to be a good phone to do that; or if I should pay the extra money for the Moto x style even though I'm not thrilled by its size. My main concern is performance. I do like playing games on my phone and I'm worried that the snapdragon 410 just isn't up to the task. Also, I'm worried that the 720p screen blown up to 5 inches is just not going to look that good.

For those who have the phone, what say you? Are you using it as you daily driver? How is it handling that job?

If you want to switch from IPhone 6 then Moto G is probably not a good choice. You could get Galaxy S5, LG G3, Moto X 2014, HTC M8, Xperia Z2, etc all last year's flagships for about $300-350 unlocked. All these phones are better than Moto G 3rd Gen in pretty much every way for only about $100 more.

the G is a perfectly adequate phone, but it's not a flagship that can compete with what the 6+ can do (especially when it comes to gaming)

if you are okay with the 6+ size, the new Moto X looks to be very similar in size (probably not as tall, but wider) but has that fantastic moto curved back which makes it feel smaller in hand.

for the price, the moto G is a good way to see if android is an OS that works well for you, you're only out a couple hundred dollars and if you buy from moto, you can even return it in 14/30 days if you don't like it.

the 720p screen is very similar in resolution to the iphone6 screen and is only marginaly bigger. sure, it's not razor sharp (neither is the 1080p panel of the 6+ compared to the 2k screens in a lot of android flagships) but things look just fine (to me) on it, the lower res screen does help it game a bit better and helps the battery last a bit longer.

Actually the Moto X style is smaller than the iPhone 6 plus in every dimension but thickness.

The Moto G is surely a better choice than the LG G3 or the GS5. Both have pretty bad software, and bad overall user experience.

Just remember the Moto G is a $200 phone, while the iPhone is $600+. Not taking anything away from it though, but you might be better off jumping to the x style instead.

I'd argue against each one of those being definitively better, although they have higher resolution screens. They're also all used, so 150-175% of the price for a used device that's already aged and halfway or more to End of Life or 57-66% of the price for a new device that matches each on performance in most areas. I'm not getting a G, but for the market it is meant to compete in, it's among the best.

So thinking about it, I'll probably either get the new morons style or just keep the iPhone. I was thinking of going back to android though because I'm getting a little bored with iOS, but maybe it's a grass is greener thing.

I would like a side thing to bring to the gym. Was thinking either Moro g or Lumia 640. 640 is cheaper.

I have an iPhone 6 Plus and ordered a Moto g. I plan to carry it around without a case and never worry about what happens to it. It will feel liberating to toss it around and enjoy it naked.

Those are not used prices.You can get those last years flagships NEW. For example in my country Moto G 3rd Gen is $220 and Galaxy S5 new is $320,Moto X 2014 is also $320 and Nexus 5 is also $320 so for $100 all 3 phones are quite a bit better than Moto G.

i wouldn't touch an s5 with a ten foot pole. the s6 is a bit nicer but the s5 was the worst when it came to the heavy UI with samsung.

the nexus 5 and 2014 x are great phones, but not worth 300+ at this point when the 2015 X can be had for 400.

if you can get one (and you should be able to) used for 200 max they would be worth it.

i just popped my sim back into my G after taking it out of my 6+ and the G really holds up well. albeit i have the beta of ios9 on the 6+ so it's not crazy smooth.

the little moto enhancements are so so handy and being equipped with a "low end" SoC, the G performs remarkably when it comes to basic day to day use.
