I have a Galaxy S8+. How many use it and does it destroy battery life. I'm not sure if it's just a Samsung feature so wasn't sure where to post this.

It's pre-installed on all of T-Mobile's Android phones (at least all of the ones I've purchased), regardless of manufacturer.

Regardless, I've never used it and it's one of the first things I disable when setting up a new phone. Don't download anything from dodgy websites and you'll be safe.

Lookout is a Samsung product that integrates to your phone. It's battery usage is nearly nil as you can see in your battery stats should you use it. If you do not use a paid Norton, Kaspersky or mccafe, it's a good, included security app that can help you in the event of a lost or stolen phone. Try it, and if you don't see it being seemless and useful, delete it.
