My phone randomly refuses to charge wirelessly on any charger but the OEM Nexus charger. Even that takes a bit of finagling. I thought it was the other chargers. Bought a Choetech and it worked for about a month, then started having issues. Would disconnect after anything from a few seconds to a few hours. Thought it was the charger so I bought a Samsung charger. Same thing. Worked great for a while and then the same issues started. Friend's phone (Samsung 7) and wife's phone (Nexus 5) work fine on both chargers. Anyone have any idea why this would start happening?

Have you upgrade to Nougat recently, or maybe a new case that's thicker? Nougat has affected wireless charging for quite a few posters, if not that then the coil in the back of the phone could be degrading, or maybe the battery. How old is the phone?

It's 3+ years old. Every update slows it down, but battery is fine. Found some advice online. Pressed the back cover is several areas and heard a very slight click. Started working after that. I think the OEM Nexus wireless charger works because it has a magnet in it that pulls the phone tight to it. And no, I did not upgrade to Nougat as it is not available for the Nexus 5, at least not in stock form. Also, I never use a case.

Well, seems it was a temporary fix. Waiting for my LG G6 in the mail now. This will be a backup for when I travel over seas....
