Losing all Phone Sound - 6P on 8.0 - Any others?

So after updating my Nexus 6P to 8.0.0, I'm experiencing an issue where I lose ALL SOUND out of my phone if I plug my phone in too quickly as I'm starting up my vehicle. I have no sound in AA via USB, nothing if I disconnect and attempt Bluetooth, and no sound if I just disconnect my phone and try to play out of my phone speaker. I have to do a phone restart to get sound back.

All the 8.0 sound issues I'm finding with AA are related to bluetooth - but figured I'd post to see if anyone else might have seen a no sound condition on their 8.0 phone related to AA.

So I'm now using an Essential Phone, running 7.1.1. And I had the SAME THING happen the other day! I lost all sound out of the phone, Android Auto / Bluetooth, mulitple apps.
Interesting in that my system sounds would still "ding" - i.e. turning up/down the volume, but I tried multiple audio apps, they would play, but my phone would make no sounds.

I have a new Anker power line+ cable, my Essential, and a totally different 18MY vehicle. I had the No Sound condition again today. Something is going on here...
