Loss of phone signal not data

Starting today about 2 hrs ago my Droid will not dial out, receive calls, send or receive texts when I am at home. I go several blocks away and it works fine.
When I try to call out it stays on the "Dialing" screen for a minute or so and then says "Call has been lost". Calls into the phone goes straight to voicemail.
I went to the local Verizon store and they said everything looked fine with the phone and "These things happen." Of course it worked just fine there.

Does anyone know what would cause this and a way to fix it?

could just be a problem with a tower or just a glitch, try restarting your phone and then dialing *228 option 2

I don't think it's the tower, a roommate who has the blackberry storm is having no problems. The guy at the Verizon store already did the *228

So your Droid won't get a signal in the exact same place a person with another Verizon phone can? That seems really weird. How about another Droid owner? (Join something like Android Town and you may be able to find one nearby.)
