lossless camera

From what I've gathered it's actually an android issue. The platform itself doesn't support raw data from cameras.
Everyone's talking about "raw"... but I would be satisfied with simply less jpeg compression. RAW is usually limited to professional grade cameras. I'm willing to accept that a cell phone is not a professional grade camera.

Again, an 8mpx image on the "fine" or "super fine" setting of an actual camera is usually around 4-6MB, not 1.5MB. However, I still feel that if the lens/sensor combo was good enough that HTC would have supported a "quality" setting (compression amount). Since they didn't, I'd have to assume that it would not have helped appreciably. Personally, I prefer not to waste the space if it would not be any improvement.

The importance of having android support raw data for developers it's so they can compress it how they please. The jpeg compression is caked into the OS.
