Lost a video

My dad says he took a 5 minute video today that was "very cool" but when he tried to get to it later, he couldn't find the file. He says when he tapped pause to stop the video, it seemed to pause/freeze for a little and then finished.

Is there any way to get a lost video file from the SD Card?

If the phone froze and the video never saved to the SD card... it's gone.
