Lost function after 2.1?

So I upgraded to the Sprint 2.1 release and now my Gmail will not sync unless I do it manually. What do I need to do to get it working, I have went through all the settings and cannot find anything.

Also, I notice when I turn off my phone and restart it, the app list goes from list, which is how I have it to icons. Small annoyance, but still.

Turn on Auto Sync. Menu > Settings > Accounts & Sync

Checkmark in background data and auto-sync

Thanks, that was the problem, I unchecked it by accident.
