Yes when I successfully get just the ROM running I believe it is the one I d/l directly from ROM Manager. I did however download the 1.1.1 and GApps to my mac and used the aforementioned Android File Transfer program to transfer the file to my phone. Yes I DID create a folder that I can see in my file manager called ROMs and dropped them into there. When you say copy to the root do I just drop it amongst the regular files?

Yes it must be on the root (with the regular files) to work, if you have it in a folder named root or whatever it won't work. Try moving both files to the root and try again i bet it works.

I will try this and report back. Another quick question, with future ROMs do you suggest strictly doing it in this manner? IE download it to your computer and drag and drop? Is there any reason to use ROM Manager over the previous method?

I prefer downloading using a computer I think it has less of a chance of error or having issues.

Made a baby step of progress...I successfully installed the ROM from recovery, however when I tried to install GApps after it it showed the pic of the little droid tipped over with a red triangle'd exclamation mark and said "bad".

Do I need to do the wipe steps again after I install the ROM or go straight into installing GApps? Maybe I have a bad download of GApps? Those two scenarios are the only thing I can think of at the moment.

No need to wipe again after installing the rom, I would guess you have a bad download of GApps and would recommend downloading again.

Now, should I back this ROM up and I can always switch back to it in the future once I have a collection of ROMS (I think thats what I have been reading)? And do you have any tips/good reading material on under/overclocking and how it is used? I'm such a noob at this it is ridiculous. A big thanks to everyone that has helped me out.

I always backup any Rom once it's all set up before flashing any theme's or mod's just to be safe. And try naming the backup the name of the Rom and version number so later you know which one is which. Glad you got it working and the more you mess around the better you get at it.

I now apparently need to learn about themes and mods. I saw in the original thread, screenshots that the lock screen was edited so that when he slid right it was phone, up for camera, and left for text or something like that. I also have seen the power controls at the top of the screen when you pull the notifications down. Would those be considered mods or is the former that widget locker app?

This whole rooting/ROMing/theming/Modding/kernel business is exciting and I'm excited to keep learning more and more about it.

EDIT: Also, once I get my layout exactly the way I want it (apps, folders, widgets etc.) when I back it up will it restore to exactly that state?

Yup thats correct, once you made your backup it will restore to how it was , the backup is a mirror image .
I might try codename out as my next Rom but havent flashed it yet so thats all I could comment on to your last post.

i had moble market on my tablet then had some isues with it running slow so i resat the tablet back to factory settings how do i get the 1mobile market back in the tablet please help i love that site and i had it in the tablet befour but can't seem to figure out how to get it back will someone please help me figure it out it is telling me i need to sign in with the white suit case i con but there is no i con to log into please help
