For some reason after rooting my phone with gingerbreak, I lost my MMS messages. What did I screw up this time? I'm running cm7

CM7 is uhh.. already rooted..

why would you root over a rooted rom? who knows what you screwed up.

re flash it and test mms again, and dont use gingerbreak on a custom rom.

i apologize in advance. i started a whole process. i rooted my phone, installed CWM, which i had a little problem doing. i finally got it, thanks to the great people on this forum. i did the gingerbrake then the CWM. thats where i lost my MMS. then i seen the CM7 and installed it. i thought that might take care of the problem. it didnt. i lost it before i put the new ROM onto it. sorry"virginmobileguy". if its any consilation, i'm really starting to understand alot more about my phone and roms, kernals and everything else. i guess i'm learning from my mistakes. "watskyhotsky" yes i did install CM7 over an already rooted phone, but i lost my MMS before i did this. should i go back to the stock rom and start over again?

go back to stock rom, use the "activate" app, to make sure your phone is provisioned.

make sure MMS works on the stock rom, then when it does, go ahead and move to CM7. in CM7, start totally fresh, dont use an app like titanium backup to restore apps.

you CAN use Go SMS to backup texts in stock rom and restore them in CM7, thats what I do. also, GO SMS works way better at receiving and sending MMS messages in my experience, over the stock sms app

This is why being i never do update to a rom just because you might not know when a update(2.3) is pulling in and out of know you need automatic stock on your phone When you jkust had build of a new rom i might change the rm after the 2.3 update being that after that idk if its gonna be updated from 2.3 to 2.4 later in the years......

Yess download go sms or wat the other guy said I accidently deleted my stock msm and could not recieve pics you could sent texts but unfortunatley youcant recieve pics but

Try this go get "Root Explorer"

Go down to "System" go into "App" and see if you can find the stock sms in there

sorry it took so long to get back to you. i've had a bad cold. anyway, back to stock and still no MMS. i really did it this time. i think i seen someone else in our forum that went thru this this. i will be looking. also, it doesnt seem to be connecting to the internet in 3G. i just kinda thought of this and just tryed it a couple times. i will have to look into that. that would stop me from getting MMS messages, correct?

I GOT MY MMS. I GOT MY MMS. I read on this forum that it only downloads in 3G. i dont ever remember it being that way. pretty much everywhere i go is wifi. doesnt matter anymore. I GOT MY MMS. thanks guys for all your help. i could never do it without yous. thank you. thank you. now i will redo my recovery folder then flash cm7 without rooting my phone first.

make a backup of your stock rom. then connect your sd card to a pc and copy the "clockworkmod" folder to it. so you ALWAYS have a backup. incase the phone wipes the sd card (my triumph wiped mine 3 times so far. nuked all my music and pics and backups)

download the cm7 rom and gapps, put them on the sd card, not in a folder. flash them through recovery ONLY AFTER wiping System, Cache, and Dalvik cache (its in the "advanced" section)

wipe each one twice or more to ensure you get a good clean install of cm7

when you flash cm7, do NOT reboot, just immediately flash gapps on top of it.

if you reboot without flashing gapps, it will load fine but the market wont exist and when you try to add a account it will just have a bunch of errors. and if you flash gapps AFTER this it wont work. youll have to wipe and start all over.

thats just how it is

i did just as you said. CM7 is running like a dream. as i was saying in my earlier post, everywhere i go has wifi. not EVERYWHERE. i should say the two main places i go. at home i have wifi and at work i have wifi. i discovered this last night while sitting in wifi and i receive a MMS message, my 3G comes on automatically to download the MMS. my phone was going off like crazy last night from all the MMS messages that haven't came thru earlier. thanks again for all your help. i only have one more thing that i would like to do and that is the PRL. unless told differently. "virginmobileguy" and "watskyhotsky" you both are great phone savers.

ive flashed the PRL on my Optimus V a few times and its a bit tricky. I havent dont it to my Triumph yet becuase I havent felt the need.

follow my thread MOtorola TRiumph Upgrades it shows you how to change your prl in minutes and if have an problem dont hesitate to send me a quick msg ill respond:)
