Lost my S3, Asurion on backorder

Wait if your phone is lost it's covered, I thought it only covered damage. I actually left mine in the shoe dept in the mall. Luckily the sales clerk found it. Big scare. I guess I should really look over my insurance and what's covered.

Assurion covers "anything". Lost, stolen, broke, water damage, etc. I had Assurion years ago with the original droid. lost it and the sent me the HTC Incredible. 2 weeks later I left the phone in my jeans back pocket and well.....it commited suicide in the washing machine and they sent me a new one. If you have 2 claims within a year, you are automatically dropped. I just signed up back with assurion with my new Samsung S3. Well worth it I think.

Ok finally I have an update.

Performance wise, this white version doesn't seem as fast as the blue one I had. I am wondering if the 'update' sticker on the front of the box had anything to do with it? Connecting to the Wifi is slow, lower speedtest scores when on 4g and it keeps dropping in certain areas which didn't before. I am hoping there aren't any problems because dealing with Asurion was a pain.

After playing with both the white and blue, they performed identical. I like the White a little more, but the one thing that pushed me to white was that the hardware felt better. I tried a few blue and a few white ones, and all of the blue ones had a "squishy" home button, while ALL of the whites had a very solid click.

I went ahead and ordered one, and sure enough, the white one ordered had that nice, firm click.

Yes Asurion covers lost phones. 2 claims max per year I believe.

I have the feeling the reason they are telling us is on back order is because they don't want to make it easy for people to call and get a new phone right away. What they will do right away is take your $ 100 bucks and tell you that the phone will be shipped next day just to find out via e-mail that your phone is on back order and you may now get it within 5-7 business day.
I have been calling these ppl. from Asurion and now they are telling me it might be longer due the the hurricane that is coming! Really? the company is based in Tennessee!
The worst thing is that there is nothing one can do and the phone carrier that convinced you to get insurance and charges you monthly for it will tell you to call Asurion directly and will not help you with your case because they act as a different company.

Just a heads up whether you are using lookout, where's my droid or any other phone finder app your gps must be enabled to find the phone. To save battery life I only turn on my gps radio when I'm using the google nav app so I think I'd be screwed if I lost my phone. I'm not 100% certain that it's the same with all of the phone location apps but lookout warns you when you setup the app that w/o gps enabled phone locator service won't work.

Not that i own or ever owned a GS3? But Asurion and i have a terrible history together. Screwed me outta my Samsung galaxy S 4G replacement with T mobile a year ago they denied seven claims with the same accident and i quickly cancelled service with T mobile then and there! I ended up with Verizon Total care and just filed a new claim on my Motorola Droid Razr Maxx HD 32GB phone and after jumping through all their hoops i was informed that i'd have to accept a Razr HD phone or click on the Back Order button for my Razr Maxx HD replacement. SO i clicked backorder. Why would they not have these phones in stock????? They get paid hefty sums of money and even scew paying customers out of legitimate claims? Fornuatley for me my screen is crackled but the phone still works ok, My verizon store accually informed me to file a claim as i didn;t even think about it?

I work for a VZW retailer and recommend going with 3rd party insurance. A competent store like mine A Wireless 98% of the time you get a new phone out of stock for a $129 deductible. $6.99mo and the extra $30 is worth not getting a Verizon Refurbished device.
