Lost Phone Backup Issues

Hi everyone,

Ok forgive me if this sounds stupid but I lost my handset recently (Xperia Arc) and had not previously physically backed up any of the photos to my linked android/google account. I spoke to my network provider (Orange) who indicated that I may be able to get these photos back through my Android account and upload them to a new handset. Is this possible without me backing them up in the first place????

You would have needed all of it to be set up for cloud storage (Drive, G+, DropBox, etc.) for this to work. And whoever has it now likely wiped the phone.
