Lost Spreadsheets

I've tried your suggestion. I also dug out my old Samsung to look for the missing files. When it first boot, the files were listed but when I tried to load them, all I got were error messages and now they no longer show. I guess that means the files are gone forever. I'm going to design a backup system just for spreadsheets.

I have to be honest, I prefer my own methods of doing backups. I recall trying to sync my music using some of the automated tools and things went really badly. But since I still have a PC and a few laptops, I generally would make copies of important or meaningful files manually including using portable hard drives to make additional copies.

I don't know if Google is doing things differently or has problems. But last week, I decided to use Gmail on my PC (web version, therefore) and went to write an email to a contact. I found that I had NO contacts!!!! Seriously, they were all gone. I did have them on my phone and I quickly exported them to a comma delimited file. I was fearful that on my next phone/cloud sync, that Google would see NO Contacts in the cloud and erase (sync) my phone version. How the hell does it know which one I want to be the lead? It could decide that the empty cloud was my way of cleaning up, rather than some stupid mistake and erase all my phone contacts, too.

In other words, after all these years, computers still screw up!

You mentioned older versions - any other older devices out there that might have a copy, even if out-of-date?

Good luck.

I did have an old smartphone with the files showing. However when I tried to load them, since they were not in the cloud, they crashed.
