Lot's of Force Closes :(

Something happened to my phone yesterday and now a lot of apps are force closing on me, and some of the ones that will open are acting like it's the first time that I have run the app.

I'm using ACE ROM 2.0 and it's been rock solid. No idea what happened yesterday but the phone is getting close to useless since too many apps are FCing. I've rebooted and even taken the battery out but still the issues continue.

Before I put this sucker back to standard Froyo does anyone have any ideas how I can possibly fix this?

Actually, just looking closer the issue is worse that I thought...some apps have gone, like they have been uninstalled. This is so weird. Never had an issue with this phone until now.

Sounds like you had something bad go wrong with the ROM. You will probably have to wipe and reflash the ROM again.

Bugger, was hoping that wasn't the case. Since GB is likely due out any time soon, I think I might just flash back to stock Froyo for the time being. Can I use Odin to flash to EC05? Is that the correct Froyo release and will that let me do the OTA upgrade to GB?

I posted a similar topic, my Epic is running GB 2.3.3 and i love it, but ive noticed some issues. I get some force closes, and the occasional non promted reboot. Yes they are annoying but i figure in my case, im using an OS that hasnt been officially released so it has it bugs and glitches. You might have to go back to a previous OS(froyo i think lol). Hope things work out.

I have had all sorts of problems trying to go back to EC05 with two different phones. Never did get it to work right. I would use EB13 then let it OTA up to EC05.

@Dave, my friend long time ACE user Unfortunately looks like you hit a brick wall in the ROM somewhere.. It happens, every ROM and even seems like stock OS eventually hits that wall where a factory wipe or reflashing of the ROM is needed.

Best suggestion Dave if your going back to stock is go to Froyo EB13 using procedure #2 from below and then within 5-10 mins you will be prompted to upgrade to EC05. Then just sit back and hang out for official GB if that is what you want to do.

Cheers Paul...I think that's what I'll do for now and then see how stock GB is. ACE ROM was just that, ACE Shame that something barfed it up. Just seems like a good time to go back to stock and wait for GB and see how that goes.

No problem Dave... Glad you enjoyed such a long run with ACE. Just one of those things that happen, something got borked out of your control and needed a complete reflashing...

Who knows, maybe a Gingerbread ACE ROM will pop up one day

If one does, then I'll be sure to try it out. Always liked the ACE ROMs. Snappy and always gave me pretty good battery life

Is EC05 the latest stock Froyo release then? No more updates until GB?
Also, is there a quick way to root my phone so that I can use Titanium backup to restore my apps?

Yep EC05 is the last/latest Froyo update.

Use the above to root and install CWM.
