A loud pulsing ringing went off out of nowhere and I had to run the volume all the way off to stop it. It was gone when I ran it back up. I had no alarms set and it wasn't a sound I use. I must be the first to post about it. Anybody else get it?
I had the same happen yesterday, I had to turn the volume down all the way the alarm would not stop sounding. It happened when I powered the phone on. It went away the next day, took it to Verizon store but they had no clue.
I've heard of this kind of thing happening, but it was on a Tracfone basic cell phone. I have no idea wtf was happening. Haven't had any shenanigans like that on my Stratosphere.
Could it somehow be a glitch in the 911 "emergency tone" option? Verizon oddly allows one to set the phone to make a alert sound when 911 is dialed...they got some flack for having this on by default years ago so now it's an option.
My wife and I get this ridiculous alarm too, usually kicks in when we restart / reboot our Stratosphere phones. It is loud and scares the crap out of me.. especially frustrating that you can't turn it down / off until the operating system has finished loading .
From what we can tell, it's a "helpful" notification that there are unheard voicemail messages, but we're not 100% sure . Once you open the notification manager, it stops, and the voicemail notification is the only one that's always there.. Been trying to find out how to turn it off, but no luck. What a fantastic "feature" - great job Samsung!
This is what worked on my Samsung Stratosphere. Hasn't happened since I changed my alert notification to a system one that is on the phone and not the card. I copied and pasted the info below.
I used to get this when the notification sound was located on the sd card, when the device starts it checks the card but cant use the sound and so uses some sort of missing file noise. try setting your notification sound to a default android one and restarting.
Mine only did this when I had voice mail because apparently my phone alerts you to vm at start up...well my alert sound was on the card so while the card was being scanned at start up it couldn't play the correct sound so it plays a default "missing sound" sound. Hasn't happened since I changed this setting. Hope it helps!
