Love Bixby!

Well I mean let's not kid ourselves here -- Samsung wants it to be as good as Google and such. Otherwise it would only accept commands and not try to answer. Same with Apple. They want Siri to not suck so bad but so far it is really only good for direct commands. Using Siri on my Series 4 watch / iPhone is great when only direct commands. Any questions I ask one of my many Google Homes / Assistant on the phone.
You're right about all of that. But still one should know what Bixby can do and how to use it. I think that's why some say Bixby is bad, simply because they may be expecting it to do what GA and Siri does.... "But that's not how any of this works" lol

It's so slow though, compared to Google for asking questions. Even for something as simple as weather forecasts. Google is instantaneous, while Bixby spins for a few seconds.

Heck, even Alexa is faster.

I don't mind bixby, but do we have to have a dedicated button for this? like Google didn't force a dedicated button for it's assistance or Apple.

Bixby (for the brief time I tested it back on my S9) reminds me of Siri. If you give it direct commands it can execute them without issue. If you ask it a question -- that is where the failure can come in. Google can take commands but also answer questions way better. Obviously due to the data/being a search engine/etc. but that is the difference to me with Google Assistant VS others.

Bixby isn't Google, it isn't for answering general questions but for running the hardware, like hi Bixby close all recent apps...try it. Google doesn't do that.

Ya know... saying anyone who hates Bixby doesn't know it does, (as you said in another thread), is both arrogant to assume and just plain wrong. I hate Bixby. I've used Bixby. I guarantee you that I know what it does just as well as you do... and still think it sucks.

As someone else said at one point... unlike GA it does not recognize "Call my son/wife," I have to use their names... and there are a ton more examples across the web of how Bixby can't even use the hardware properly. I one thousand percent understand it's designed for hands free operation of the phone, and not general info like GA... and it still isn't quite up to the task.

There isn't anything that I've ever tried to macro Bixby to do that other apps or even Samsung's Routines app, can't be programmed to do AUTOMATICALLY... both hand's free and voice free. Leave my house... it does X. Arrive at work it does Y. Get in my car, connecting to my car's bluetooth, do Z... etc, etc.

Oh... and I can close all my recent apps faster by orders of magnitude than Bixby can.

Tap recents, tap close all... done before Bixby even wakes up from the Hi, Bixby phrase.

And that's fine.. but to pretend Samsung doesn't want Bixby to be GA is only kidding yourself. Saying it isn't for answering questions is not what Samsung wants. Sure it can control the device since it's integrated into the system but Samsung wants it to be like GA hence it trying (key word) to do it but failing.

So saying it isn't meant for something just because it is failing at it is just making up excuses.

It isn't trying to be Google. Google doesn't do what Bixby does you don't get it. Stop bashing something you really don't understand.

Unlike GA, Samsung tells you upfront its a 3rd party app. It can do some things, macros, that GA can't. GA, using a more developed language recognition, is helped by thousands of app developers.
It will get better much quicker with the new ai development. In the meantime, you get a included shortcut hardware button. I use it to bring up my phone dialer. If you don't want to use it, just don't. I doubt any of us use all of the functionality of the mini computer we say is a phone anyway. Heck, Apple won't even put a back button on anything, so annoying looking for the 'back' word or an x, and you complain because it's not up to HAL standards yet. What's all the emotion about an optional to use button. It's not like it's blocking the screen or something, iykwim.

I don't care what Bixby does.
I don't like Bixby and choose not to use Bixby.
You or nobody will change my mind.
I have a pixel 3 XL because of Bixby.
My wife has a note 9
She don't want to hear Bixby either.

And I don't use it. I simply said it sucks as an assistant like Siri does for iPhone. You want to defend it as if Samsung doesn't want it to be like GA and that's just a lie lol.

Sure it'll get better but it's taking awhile to get there. Also not complaining it isn't HAL yet but uh.. GA sure can do a lot more.. so something is there you just are upset I called Bixby out. If you go reread my post I said it's good for phone commands (like Siri) but as an assistant it still sucks. I know they're working on it but that doesn't make it any less worse right now.

As for iPhone you can use back gestures. I don't use the back button or X ;).

Take a breath. I don't own Samsung stock and could not care less than a unwanted button on the side of my phone. Does anyone really care about it?
As for Apples gestures, again, who cares? A back button missing is something I miss using constantly when using the ipad. Not so much any assistant.

A breath? I think you think I'm upset.. I'm not lol. Just responding to your response.

Apple gestures work that's why I care. You don't have to agree and that's fine but let's not deflect to another random issue just to get away from Bixby issues :P

You just don't understand and I doubt you even know how to use Bixby.

Did Samsung tell you it wants Bixby to be like GA?

Actually it CAN do what GA does. You just have to learn how to use it. Bixby in return will learn your use habits.

If I could of paid 100.00 MORE to get a Note 9 with no Bixby button.
I would of paid it.
Not interested whatsoever in Bixby.

I personally don't use Bixby at the moment. I use Google assistant just now. I don't understand the emotions this seems to create however. It is somewhat irrational to have so strong options on an ai on a phone. It's there, use it should you have use for it, ignore it if you don't. I see it the same as the torch or other periphery features, use them if I need them.

I very much know how to use Bixby. I find it funny you use that as a defense as if it is hard to use Bixby lol. Just because it may not be my fav doesn't mean I somehow don't know how to click a button and ask it things.

Sure it CAN do it .. sometimes. I have asked it questions and sorry it doesn't get it like GA does for me.

Did they tell you they don't?
