So, I'm going from a 4.5 year old phone, an HTC Evo 4g Supersonic to the G3. I stopped briefly at a OnePlus One, but although it has great specs for the price, I couldn't stand the fact that my 4.5 year old phone can do more than the OPO.
I didn't think I would want the higher quality display on the G3, until I tried Google Cardboard on the OPO. The OPO is 1080p, but in Cardboard, you can definitely see the display's limitations. On the G3, it looks fantastic. If you haven't tried Cardboard yet, DO IT!
I also missed my Evo's HDMI out. Everyone was telling me to buy chromecast or just miracast to my TV. The lag times, the stuttering of audio and video at hi-def was atrocious. $15 spent on a slimport adaptor with HDMI cable and I have my awesome screen mirroring again. Who cares about wires when you can use bluetooth controllers? I'd prefer the lag free and better quality than no wires.
I was able to root my phone in five minutes. Only problem was finding a computer to borrow so I could do it.
I bought an otterbox and tempered glass to protect my phone. I still need to get a new SD card.
Some questions if you don't mind. I'd like to keep the Infrared controller app, the camera... and probably chuck the rest of the bloatware. Any ROMS you guys could recommend that would let me keep those two apps but nix the rest? I'm a fan of CM, but hate their camera.
How are the internal and external SD cards set up? When I download apps, how much space is set aside for them and where? i.e. how much of the phone's 32gb is set aside for apps and ROM?
Any reason to partition an external SD card on this phone? I can't think of one. Looks like there is plenty of space to go around.
Like I said, i have an otterbox (defender) case on the phone. I would like to get the extended battery at some point. Has anyone tried the 9,000ah one with the protective case? Any extended batteries that fit inside the current backing?
