Low bit ambient mode rant and plea to Motorola...

Maybe there is a thread on this already but having another isn't a bad thing. I (and likely many many others) would love to do a way with the black and white low bit ambient mode and have an option for just a dim version of the active screen. Or even a "dumbed down" version would be fine if the resolution was there. I would gladly give up some battery life to have this. I am at 50-70% at the end of the day anyway. Most watch faces look atrocious in ambient mode and some are even illegible. Some have just random amoeba like blobs where dials should be. I'd literally be embarrassed to have anyone see that my new $500 watch looks like that and I doubt anyone would ever see it and say, "wow, that looks like ****, I'm definitely gonna spend $500 on one". Well, I did, but I mean smart people. lol
I do use pujie black which is much better (still low bit though, grrr) but it sucks to be limited to that. Even the stock included moto faces look like boring garbage in ambient.

Come on Motorola, step up and do the right thing.

IMO it's an option that is pretty much a must for this watch. Especially since some other watches have very nice ambient modes.

I just buy or use faces that look good in ambient. I have one that lets you choose how much, or how little, detail you want in ambient. They happen to be some of the best faces anyway.

Faces on apps like Watch Maker can be a crap shoot though.

Fair enough. Wouldnt you agree though that a higher res ambient mode is definitely something motto should do?

In the mean time, can you post links or names of some of the faces you are referring to? It just sucks that out of the thousands of nice faces out there only a small portion look decent in ambient.

I think it would be great if they added a setting to allow the option for either!

In the meantime:
Zodiac
V08
Minimal and Elegant
Rolling
LCD
Moon Phase
Pujie
Space Armour
Skymaster

They all look pretty good in ambient, unless you're staring at them, which nobody's really doing anyway. Ambient is good for quick off-angle glances, and for giving the illusion of a real watch to passersby.

Even watches like the Huawei or LG Urbane can't really display full-mode around the clock. They generally revert to black and white (though it is sharp) unless you use a third party face, and then you're sacrificing battery life and risking burn-in.

If you want the best possible look at all times, and are willing to sacrifice battery, get KOKO, set your brightness at 1, and set it for indefinite. Full-mode, full-time! :D

Here's ambient mode in one of my Watch Maker faces. I bought the unlocked version and removed the shadow effect on the outer ring, and the outer ring itself since the new 360 doesn't like textures and gradients in ambient (or I could have set them for bright-only). That wasn't really required with the color combo here, but I like orange/red.

Here's the active mode of the same face, again, in the default color.
