low memory = performance?

I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on an issue I have. I currently have about 8 gigs of free storage and was wondering... if I were to download some games and took up some more gigs, would low memory slow down my phone or drain battery? The games won't be running of course. Just there on my phone.

Filling the storage memory in itself shouldn't cause slowdowns, but the more apps you install, the more likely you'll have one that is constantly running, or waking up the phone, or hogging memory, or whatever, and that could slow things down. Remember, even if you don't manually open an app, it might open on its own and run in the background, which is the nature of Android. Games typically don't behave like this, but other apps related to social media, multimedia, and system utilities certainly can.
