"low memory signaled by the system"

This system warning keeps popping up on the bottom of my screen, and I'm not exactly sure why or what I need to do about it. Is this happening to anyone else? It doesn't appear to be causing any problems, but it is annoying, and if I can fix whatever the problem is, I definitely would like to. Any advice?
