Low power location estimation?

What does this setting do? i have never seen it on android before. Is it an LG thing?

Oh I re read the description. So why is it an option, shouldnt it be enabled in the system automatically without an on and off option or does it reduce GPS performance or something if enabled.

Usually that means location is using wifi resources to estimate location and GPS is off. At least that is how it is on HTC, Moto and Samsung devices. Much batter on battery and fine for local business searches, weather apps etc. Obviously not good for navigation
