Greetings!

I am using an EU model and have some questions about the internet speed, when using my home WiFi on the 5Ghz band.

On my old phone, I am getting around 300mbit/s in download, compared with my new G6 which provide a top speed around 200mbit/s.

Its a bit odd that my Motorola style/pure gets higher download speed, then what my new shiny precious gets.

I saw in a another forum, that Samsung s8 had the same problem, and a fix was on the way, so I wonder if the G6 have the same issue?

Samsung to roll out display color and Wi-Fi patches for the Galaxy S8 and S8+

Try and change the 5ghz channel on your router to channel 36 and run the test again. Ive had to do that on a few of my Android phones.

I will try that,thanks!

On a sidenote. The phone did performed very well picking up signals on 2.4ghz at work, where it is concrete walls and the Motorola really had to struggle with poor reception.

Changing to channel 36 did not help for me.

The download speed still differs between 80 to 100mbit/s. Uploads are the same on both phones.

I have a subscription that will grant me 250/100Mbit/s, so its not bad to get around 200mbit/s in download, its just that i do not understand the differens. It bugs me.

Interesting. I don't have access to anything higher than 100mbps so I can't help test anything higher. I wonder if somehow the chip is capped around 200? Can that even be done?
