In my first screenshot on the lower left corner I have a button that brings up a 'menu' shown in the second screenshot. What is it called? How can I add the app icons into it? Tried dragging & dropping but they drag underneath.
Sorry, it's a Lenovo Tab 3 (TB3-X70F) tablet. I'm not sure what a 'launcher' is (something that modifies the GUI, I assume?) so I'm going to have to say stock or whatever Lenovo uses by default. I'm on Android v. 6. Kernel v 3.18.19. Android security patch level May 5, 2017. The only app I have downloaded that could effect themes is Zedge. This icon, button, symbol appeared after the last Android update. Thanks for your reply.
OK, I now know what a launcher is, I don't have one installed that I downloaded (like Nova or Apex) so it's Android stock. In my reading I think this thing is called either the favorites tray or the App drawer. I'm guessing the latter since the favorites tray is seen without my activating it & the drawer shows up when I press the lower left corner icon only. I can't seem to remove any app icons from it & I thought I figured out I can add icons from the full app icon list (circle with all the 6 dots icon) however, when I try that it says the favorites tray is full - which mine is but the app drawer has plenty of room (as seen from the second screenshot). Looking forward to your thoughts on this, Thanx!
It could still be a feature of the Lenovo launcher. One way to tell is to boot into Safe Mode, which will disable any 3rd party app you installed. If it goes away, then it's due to one of those 3rd party apps. If it remains, then it's part of the stock launcher. https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/us/en/products/tablets/a-series/tab3-7/solutions/ht500962
I doubt that's the App Drawer -- the App Drawer should show all installed apps. On your homescreen, do you still have an App Drawer button (an icon that looks like a grid of dots)?
It remains! So it must be stock & not third party. Yes, I have the button that has 2 rows of 3 dots in a circle - so that's called the App Drawer! Now I know!
Some devices allow the user to customize the navigation bar (i.e., the lower bar where the Home, Back and Recent Apps buttons are). They might allow you to rearrange the buttons, or perhaps add a couple of customizable buttons. I can't find any info on the web about your exact model, but look through the system settings to see if there's anything about customizing the navigation buttons. You could try using the search function in the settings for "navigation."
Actually navigation search brings up nothing. I never could find anything in the settings on it either but I tried again without success. I've messed around with it some more & *I think* it automagically populates itself with apps & you can select only those apps it has - to put in the pop up tray that shows when you activate the lower left icon. I noted only basic native apps & Chrome are present. This might be a lost cause, I was hoping it was more like Samsung's App Edge - but it is clearly not.
