Loyal BB user leaving S1 for X

I'm in the EXACT same boat. But last night I downloaded Google Talk and it's exactly like BBM. Already converted all my BBM friends...check it out...

yea, Google Talk is basically BBM for everybody. I'm gonna try to start using it more seeing as it doesn't take up my texting plan.

I have had my Storm 1 since November of 08 (3rd one)and I have a hybrid OS running on it (thank God for hybrids) that without, I think I would have ate my NE2 and went for an early upgrade. I will miss suretype, BBM, push email and the battery life, but there is always swype, GTalk and the extended battery! To get me in the android mode till next week I downloaded BeDroid theme on it.

I also am a Storm user switching up to android for the X. I've had my storm since 7 am the morning of its release and while it was a good phone the app library and non-existant memory are what sold me on the switch.

RIM has been stagnant for the past 2 years and i dont want to have to wait for them to work out the kinks in OS6.

Can't wait til Thursday for a phone that responds to your needs. I have been waiting for that for awhile now.

I'm a S1 user who has been so since day one. It is my first BB and I got it for one reason and one reason only. FB app I had been on windows mobile devices for years prior. Love the push email. And I can FLY through texts with the SureType. And that was a big kicker for me on this device in portrait mode on how I could text one handed. I found out I was capable on the Incredible and was gunna get one till I found out about the X. Motorola phone reception is off the hook and can't wait to have this phone. No more waiting for the screen to cool down after being in my pocket on a ride or warm up to use in the morning time from the AC in my house.

I'm also coming from the S1; I have a BB pre-order ready for me for Thursday morning.
Am I going to have to do daily battery pulls on the X? :p

You have that screen issue too? it sucks.....sometimes the screen is totally unresponsive.

Oh yeah totally. In any high moisture area your screen will become unresponsive till it "dries out". If the screen gets to hot it won't recognize your touch. I've bee. Told it uses heat from your fingers to know that you are touching it and not the keys in your pocket.

Going from a BB Tour here to a Droid X (hopefully). Now to convince VZ if I can upgrade sooner than my March '11 date.

former crackhead that has switched to android the only thing i miss on bb is lyrcidal lol he helped alot with the s1 but you dont need it on android the phones are awesome ive been using a incredible for 3 months while i await my X thank you vzw for supporting your loyal customers and letting me get out of my inc for the newest model

I am also ditching Blackberry for Android. I am going to miss the keyboard on my Curve but I can no longer deal with the slow browser and crappy camera on my Curve.

RIM is done. I've been a RIM user since the 7230 track wheel to the Tour. Ever since the Curve they are made like crap. Nervous yet anxious to make the switch to Android.

Every phone related forum has dozens of the 'i'm going from RIM to ______'. The common denominator in them all is that you will miss BBM, but not enough to take away from the thousands of new apps and generally 'cooler' hardware of a new android device.

Well it only makes sense given that RIM controls over 40% of the USA's smartphone market share. Most people still use Blackberry...though Android is quickly moving up and will probably be bigger than WinMo within a few months and larger than the iPhone in 2011.

Another S1 user here. I've loved this phone the past two years, but my clicker is going out on the bottom so.....rather than go to a S2 I'm making the switch to X. Hope the Droid family doesn't let me down. All your guys posts are making me feel a little better about my choice. Thanks I hope in advance.
