So what's new in this software push that was OTA this morning...I can't find any announcements regarding it, but see that it's going from LS670ZVC to LS670ZVD

Would be nice if this was the big update we're all wanting..Gingerbread.

(edit 12.9mb update)

Nope, it isn't Gingerbread. They did update us to 2.2.2. From what I can tell it resolved the LG logo hang some people experienced when shutting down and restarting. There is a lot of info about it in the Rooting Roms and Hacks section.

according to LG this update doesnt exist. I chatted with tech support because i tried to use the update tool to get the VD version of the software and he told me it does not exist. anybody know of another way to get it on my phone? the software update tool is not working

Have you checked in the Rooting ROMs and Hacks section? There are instructions on how to obtain the ZVD update. Also, from what I gather, they have begun pushing it through OTA. If you think you may want to root, the best way to update is through the LG Updater tool. This works as I updated my phone that way following the instructions in the above-mentioned section. I am now on SW Version LS670ZVD, Baseband version LS670MVD_60401001, Android version 2.2.2 and rooted, using ThundeROM 1.8.

Here is the official changelog for VD

LS670ZVD 3/15/2011

Whoever forced it before activation should be fired. That that is me being nice. ... >.>

I noticed the wifi hotspot app is useless now

yep, but surely you didn't expect Sprint to list " Patched Wireless Tether Exploit" in their changelog did you? Thats something a developer who works for free for the betterment of the community would list in their changelog. Someone who doesn't give a shizzle about the dev community may word it as "Network settings for improved performance".
;)

You have a refurb phone right?

Read the RED warning #1 in the revert v9 thread in my signature for an explanation as to why you are seeing what you are seeing.

Short story, your refurb phone was given a new MEID during the refurb process. It isn't registered properly in LG's database, so LG Software Updater won't find new software for your phone. You need to Force Flash the update using KP500.

I installed the VD update using the LG updater tool. I've noticed that the phone seems to lag once in a while now. A few times I've had the screen freeze for a good 30-60 seconds. Never had that before this update. BTW the phone is unrooted.

Bugger -- no more free wi-fi hotspot?!? I have no plans on rooting just yet, only because it's complicated and could brick my 2-month old phone.

wipe cache/dalvik. If that doesn't help, backup and wipe data/cache/dalvik.
