Ive noticed that when I am on a call I lose LTE...when I had the ONE on Sprint I was able to have LTE on while on the phone...is this normal for the AT&T version?

Yes. Normal for AT&T. Phone calls are on 3G until voice over LTE comes online.

You should have data through the HSPA network.. Just not LTE while on a call.

Sent from my Sprint HTC One using AC forums.

Just as an aside and out of sheer curiosity; you've had the same device on both AT&T and Sprint despite it being out a relatively short time?

Yes, I wasn't eligible for an upgrade until May. During this time I've had the Evo 3D which would run on Sprint's Wimax 4G network just fine. As long as you could get a signal for it, but when it went back to 3G it was horrible. I am in California so I decided to give the HTC One a try on Sprint since they have LTE in the areas where I live and work so I figured it would be ok. I bought the phone last week Wednesday and the LTE was horrible in most areas and like I mentioned before the 3G is unbearable. My girlfriend has AT&T and even though she is always on HSPA she would get better speeds than I would on Sprint. I returned the phone to Sprint so it would cancel my upgrade, then yesterday ported my # over to AT&T so today is my first day with the new network.

AT&T has said that they plan on starting to roll out Voice over LTE (HD Voice) sometime this year. Not all devices are compatible though (even some that support LTE data), and I'm not sure whether or not the HTC One is among the devices that will work with HD Voice if and when AT&T rolls it out ... I searched, but didn't find a definitive answer as to which devices are compatible and which are not. The only device I saw specifically called out as being compatible on AT&T's network was the iPhone 5.

Either way, VoLTE is supposed to be a battery hog in its current state, so I'm not all that exited about it at this point anyway.

While I don't expect LTE while on a phone call, I am extremely disappointed with how slow data is while on a phone call. Under setting it will say HSPA but the speeds are closer to edge. Uploads are even shower if data uploads at all.

It's been a while but I remember my AT&T iPhone having faster data while on a call ( I've been on Verizon the past few years)

I noticed about a year ago at&t started throttling data speeds 'while on a call'. Im in a 4g (not LTE) area and usually get 6 down/3 up. During a call I get .8 down/.01 up. MMS fail to upload while on a call.
