M8 bricked, fixing it, where to begin?

I've seen guides that says what you need to flash a RUU, but I've downloaded the RUU from HTC and when I run the exe nothing happens after I've clicked that I "accept" everything. I've tried to run RUU on two computers.

If the phone isn't recognized by the RUU software, it's probably more than briked, it's probably hardware-dead, and you need at least a new motherboard.

do you remember what version of android you were running? android 4.4 or 5.0? did you have a TWRP recovery or anything installed?

Can you tell us more info like what RUU you have tried to flash,what's your device status
Also the getvar output will be helpful ( remove serialno and imei before posting )
