M8 GPE Dot View - Missing Gallery

I recently switched to using a GPE version of the M8 versus a carrier branded Sense version, but now I find I cannot make my own custom Dot View backgrounds. When I try to go to "Gallery" within the Dot View app, it does nothing (as the HTC Gallery app isn't installed, nor can it be) and when I go to camera, I can take a picture but not save it to the gallery for Dot View to use. I get the error: ""HTC Gallery not found, cannot finish the task"

Anyone know a workaround for this? I'm currently using the unrooted version (v4.4.4).
