Mac address changed automatically

I don't think so. "The MAC address is hard-coded on a network interface controller (NIC) and cannot be changed" which means that the MAC address is unique to the device.


Why do you believe that your MAC address has changed?

thanks for the information but when last tym i was checked my mac address it was started by 64: and today' mac adress is started by 00:

I assume that you are checking the settings>>>about phone>>>status>>>WiFi MAC address screen for this information, yes?

Yes

I can't see how this is possible (since the MAC addy is tied to hardware) without purposely spoofing it (lots of steps to doing that, and most scenarios need root).

Anyone else want to chime in?

I've had my 6P for 24 days. I noticed an issue a few days ago but tried to troubleshoot it on my own. The Wifi-Mac address, which is unique to the phone, changes every time I power down the phone. This prevents the use of an automatic sign into local hot spots/school or any network that asks you to enter your devices mac address. (if the mac address changes, it no longer matches what you provided to the network) I'd rather not send my NEW phone off for repair and Best Buy wouldn't exchange it for me since it's past 14 days from purchase.

Searching the web, I found various posts with various theories (is it hardware or software?). They all concluded that this was not RIGHT, though, and recommended a RETURN of the device.

Mac address is supposed to uniquely identify your device. If it is constantly changing, something is WRONG.

Well, since you have nothing to lose by asking, I'd ASK to be sure. Would hate to see you miss out on an opportunity because you didn't inquire....
