I'm interested in getting the galaxy tab but am concerned about the compatibility (or lack there of) with the Mac. I understand there is Kies for Mac so I can transfer music and photos to the tab. I didn't find that I can transfer documents (ebooks, etc) from the Mac to the tab. Is this possible?

What ebook platform are you using (if any). I know with the Nook store I can get my books on both my phone and tablet. Anything should be possible if you transfer via a USB thumb stick assuming the GT supports the file type you are trying to transfer.

I have a collection of books in epub on my computer. With the Nook, I can connect the device to the mac via usb and copy the epubs directly onto the nook (sideload). My mac sees the nook just like a any other usb drive. Is it possible to do that with the galaxy?

Hmmm, I remember reading about this some time ago, and I know people were having issues with it. I didn't pay much attention to it because I don't own a mac.

In theory my USB drive idea should work (In practice I'm not sure) so you can try that as a work around if you have the USB adapter.

I'll try looking for some old posts to see if I can help you more. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable will come around.

I have a Mac and am able to connect via Kies with no problems. I use Kies for big files but use File Expert FTP or Dropbox for smaller files. Also able to load files via USB thumbdrive. MUCH easier to manage files with this Tab than a iPhone or iPad.

Perfect! I just came back to post almost the exact same thing...

Dropbox seems to be the most popular method, being that it would be completely wireless and you wouldn't have to buy any extra accessories.

Sometimes I like File Expert Web (works like FTP but through the your browser) better because I can load the file right into the folder I want instead of loading to Dropbox and then loading from Dropbox to the Tab. Nice to have so many options though!!!
