I thought of doing this too. But it appears they accepted my claim for the back being damaged. So there is no need. I think they will really accept anything as long as you pay them the $99.

I would do that, but there are new rules that were put in place on April 1 that are in a thread somewhere here. It says something like, "as of april 1, devices that are claimed to have a defect and none is found, a $400 fee will be billed to the account". I don't want to risk that. Plus, I already have decided to go the route of the insurance. But thank you for your suggestions

I'm glad I went with them. It really is a better price to pay. I learned my lesson. A case it is for me.

I know :/ I stopped using cases when I had my iPhone 3GS because I was sick of the bulk and felt it ruined the experience of the phone and I have always been a extremely careful person I never even dropped a phone since I had a flip phone....... I will use one now for sure.

Is it rooted if so you can unroot. Call vzw and say your having one of the numerous issues that plagues this phone (not mine personally) have them troubleshoot to no avail and they may replace it. Should be under warranty without using insurance. I paid full retail so i will take any cheaper option i can. It was this way with BB's i have never tried this with android. But it should be replacable under warranty. Good luck.

Dont do this. once VZW receives your device with fall damage they will charge you full retail for the the new one. its not a smart move.

Incorrect.

If you go through the warranty replacement route, they send you a replacement phone. once you recieve the replacement phone. you send yours back, the warehouse inspect the phone, will charge $99 for non smartphone or $299 for smartphone for dmg fee.

After you have went through warranty replacement and do not return the claimed phone within specified date, I think it's 5 days from the day you recieved it, they charge you full retail of claimed phone.

I have to ask.. Maybe i am missing out on something here.
But you are not the first person to say they go case-less because they feel it ruins the "EXPERIENCE" of the phone.. Do they inhibit you from using it? Then maybe a smaller case.. But i just dont get the "experience" part.. I am apparently missing out on some great thing by not having it..

Just remember you can only do this twice in 24 (or is it 12) months before they cancel the insurance. And yes Assuron does not care what the issue is since they get paid.

I'm not sure what Asurion does......

The first few hundred they do after a new phone comes out are actually new phones in plain brown packaging like the refurbs but after that initial stock is exhausted yes you geat a refurb.

Haha. Thanks. Unfortunately, Its all over the aluminum body, sides, and kickstand. The minimal part of it is on the back cover.

Aluminum? The thunderbolt has no aluminum anywhere on it (except for the kickstand).
