Macro Focus Doesn't Work

So I used to have an S3, and its camera had a macro focus mode, which worked really well for taking pictures up close of things. There appears to be no macro focus mode option on the S5, and it just can't focus on close-up objects, despite how when it tries to focus I see the object in focus momentarily and the focus it ends up on is terribly blurry.

I know it can focus on objects this close, but the auto-focus refuses to do it. It takes at least a full second to auto-focus each time, and having to try to get the auto-focus to work for 10-15 seconds before giving up is very annoying.

Put it in manual focus mode....

I tried it just to see how it works.

All of my stuff is landscapes, broken bridges and broken highways... no macro needed.

Mine does pretty well taking macro photos even without a dedicated mode. I can get up close and focus on objects that are only a few inches away.

How exactly do you put a phone into manual focus mode?

my phone has focused from about 2 1/2 inches for a sharp macro. I posted it to this forum. I'll see if I can find it.

It's not that I don't believe you, I'm just confused why mine can't seem to do that. I just took a picture and couldn't get it to focus from less than four inches. That's not bad but I used to take macro photos from my S3 all the time that looked really nice.

Okay, in trying to test this I went to take another picture and it focused from two inches, but only once and then it couldn't do it again.
