Mail client unable to identify new messages?

Hi All-
I am having an issue with the native email client and it's interaction with my Godaddy account. Phone is an Droid Eris, O/S v 1.5. The problem is that the client will check for new messages in my Godaddy account fine for up to a week, and then all of a sudden it will stop downloading my new messages. It appears that the client is still able to access my email account...I hit refresh, everything looks fine...but it will not download new messages. I can send messages fine...I just can't retrieve new messages from the Godaddy server. If I delete the email account on the phone and recreate it, all of a sudden everything works fine.

Any ideas on what is causing this? I feel like I need to have the email client log out of godaddy and log back in, but I don't know how to make it do that. Any help would be much appreciated!

Only suggestion I would have in my limited knowledge would be to delete the account from the phone and re-install after a battery pull.

Good luck. Hope someone with more insight than myself can come to your aid.
 
I had a similar issue with my yahoo account when I first set it up. I needed to set it up using the help from this thread:

See if some of the ideas regarding that will help you with your godaddy account. It might work very similarly regarding imap accounts.

Or see if the server for godaddy will let you forward to a gmail account, which is native to Android devices and basically error free.
