Mail Sync/Backup Assistant failing

I had to replace my Incredible 4G LTE since I ran over it. I got and identical phone, kept my original sim card and now the mail app will not sync with my gmail acct. It keeps timing out and saying something about the server.... I contacted Verizon and they said it sounded like gmail was blocking my device, but they couldn't help me because it was a google problem. I've looked in gmail settings online and can't find anything for my mobile device and tried googling it to no avail. It worked with my original Incredible, it should work with this. I know the short answer is to use the gmail app, which I do. BUT, I can't use the backup assistant because the email fails. HELP!!

I had the same problem, so I deleted my gmail account from the phone, restarted the phone, then reentered my gmail account. It's working fine now and syncing no problem. . .

Hope this works for you too.
