Maintenance Update Notification

Ok, I did a lot of searching, and can't seem to find an answer to this one. I am running a rooted DInc, with the STOCK ROM. I keep getting the notification to install the update, but don't want to, as I don't want to risk messing up my phone. I tried buying Root Explorer and adding "BAK" in the system/etc/security folder to the otacerts.zip and cacerts.bks files, but all that did was cause all my Google services on the phone to fail, and my gmail to implode (had to restore), and the stupid update notification STILL popped up after a reboot.

I have also tried accepting the update and then canceling, as I understand that for some people this causes it to go away for good, but have had no luck.

If anyone can help me with this, I would be appreciative. For the record, I have not installed a custom ROM because I really don't want to have to rebuild everything on my device to the way I have it now. The only reason I rooted the phone at all was to make the full backup and get rid of the bloatware from VZW.

Thanks!

Bren

If, like me, you deleted the stock bloatware when you rooted then just accept the update and let it run. It will time out and not install, as it can't verify what it is updating. You will keep root and you won't be bothered for the update again.
