Major Issues After Update

Re: Don't do the update!!!!

What is this 50gb drive??

Google had offerings for 50 GB of space on Google Drive for buying the Moto X, and apparently, there was an offering for 50 GB for this update as well.

Re: Don't do the update!!!!

As of this time my 4G speeds are really low. Used to get speeds of 20-30 MGs. Got mostly 5 this morning and once 15.

Re: Don't do the update!!!!

Why is it that when someone comes on here to talk about the issues they're having people react like this? Someone is having problems. Just because YOU aren't having problems doesn't mean THEY aren't having problems.

Updates CAN cause issues for some people. Accept it, and stop jumping on people just because they decide to say something to that affect here.

I guess it's cause and effect, action - reaction kind of thing. You come out and yell - "don' do the update!" instead of "The issues I've encountered with the update" could probably cause that, my dear.

The question is not "why", "why" is not important - "reason" is important

"You see there is only one constant. One universal. It is the only real truth. Causality. Action, reaction. Cause and effect"

So you're blaming someone else for your out of line response? Yeah, that's not gonna fly. If you don't like a thread, a post, or can't respond in a civil manner skip over it.

Re: Don't do the update!!!!

huge problem after the update, was thinking and clicked 'update'. Phone was rooted and now the device will turn on and then turn off again after one minute. Unusable and absolutely unable to do any kind of hard reset. Tried remote (android device manager), 10 wrong passwords, settings, volume button alternate method. Anyone know what can be done?

Re: Don't do the update!!!!

On the previous build, prior to the update, if you held on home and slid your finger up, it would expose the Google Now arc, so you could slide to the "Google" circle and lift your finger to start Google Now. The 12.15.15 update has changed so that all three of the capacitive buttons have this behavior. If you press on the buttons, the normal function happens. If you slide up while you are pressing the button, it exposes the Google Now arc.

My guess is that Motorola was trying to duplicate the functionality of a phone with on-screen rather than capacitive buttons, where a slide up from the bottom of the display launches Google Now.

If you press those button without sliding, you should be all set.

This seems like the most controversial part of the update. Maybe a future update will come that exposes a setting to control this?

As for the recent button sometimes needing a second press to show the running apps properly, that was a bug that existed in 12.7.7 that persists in 12.15.15. It doesn't always happen, but it sometimes does.

With all due respect to the Mod Team Leader, I think a thread titled "Don't do the update!!!!" is a little extreme. But, that's my opinion. Hopefully it's ok to express that, politely.

open the Drive app, go to menu, product tour and you should see your offer for 50gb free for 2 years

I'm not sure if it's a bug or the intended Google implementation when sliding from be bottom edge of the screen up triggers Google Now arc but Googald is correct, Motolola is keeping the functionality. I kind of like it - easier for me to get to Google Now and I never miss the navigation buttons in the way that it triggers the arc.

Googald, you still having issues with the recent app list? I've yet to see it to occur after the update. I have, though, restarted my phone into recovery and cleared the cache partition, just for good housecleaning.

Your best bet, is to use House of Moto tools that will help you reset your phone to original factory settings and save your data and apps. Instructions and tools here:
House of Moto - SamuriHL's House Of Moto - DroidRzr.com

I don't think I like it. It's kind of annoying. I'd rather those buttons just take me where I want to go whether I slide my finger or not.

I'm glad you guys told me how to prevent that arc from popping up.

At times a title like this can be urgent and make people think twice about the update. It may seem misleading or extreme to some but I can honestly say it got me to click the thread.

It's okay to express your opinion as you just did because it was civil. No one is faulting you for that but the earlier post did also set me off as thinking it was rude and uncalled for. We're all part of a big Android community because we all love the same thing. Let's just get along. :)

Re: Don't do the update!!!!

I am looking through the house of moto tools, however they require certain conditions (fast booting) to be met and I cant change those settings on the phone

You should be able to boot into fastboot no matter what. It's a button combo.

Also, title has been changed. Can we move on now?

After what happened to my Bionic with the ICS update, If I had seen it before I downloaded the update I probably woudn't have updated my Maxx.

I'm not having any issues so far, but it would've scared me into not updating my phone.

Ouch, glad this one went better for you. Updates generally go in hassle free but even when they do some people will have a bad experience.

Re: Don't do the update!!!!

I do wish these would start with: I rooted....OR, I've not rooted. I wonder how many problems here are rooted phones that don't like updating, surprise...but I sure can't tell glancing thru them.

I was in the soak, so I've had the update since Tuesday. Yes, I have seen it happen with the update, once. A second press of the recent apps showed the recent apps list properly (I think - I may have gone home and then pressed again.) That is maybe the third time since I've had the phone that I've noticed this, though.

I completely agree, I'm trying to figure out if anyone who was unrooted is having problems. It's just hard to tell with the flurry of comments.
