It was fine until a few minutes ago when I completed loading more than 1,000 songs. I have 3 GB free, and just like I complained about weeks ago on 4.1.1, my N7 is slow as snot again. When I click to close an app it takes several seconds, the home screen is devoid of icons for about 3 seconds, email takes forever to open, animation in Flipboard is slowed down just like weeks ago, prior to me doing a reset. If I hit "close" on Flipboard, it's a bit more than 6 seconds to see icons on the home screen. it takes over two seconds to go from dolphin to home screen. on my wife's n7, w/o a bunch of music files or movies, hers gets to the home screen in a fraction of a second, just like mine did prior to me loading the music. she has 6.37GB free

I hope someone has a good idea how to fix this once and for all. I takes me many hours to set everything up. hell, it took an hour to transfer the songs.

am I never going to be able to load content on this thing??? were the people who claimed the latest OS fixed this, wrong?

i'm going to try out Forever Gone. fingers crossed. will report back after it does its thing.

process complete. holding my breath.. rebooting...hmmm...it seems to have worked some kind of magic. home screen comes back in a flash, after exiting some apps. I can delete several emails and they go away very quickly, rather than lingering for seconds. flipboard no longer causes a huge delay getting back to the home screen. I'd say it WORKED. Too bad the guy that wrote that utility can't fix the whine in my bionic's headphone circuit.

So a simple reboot does the trick? This is great.

Reboots can help with a lot of stuff. :)

Actually... I read your posts as well and did not understand it was an app you were trying out to help fix the problem.

Your description was not very descriptive.

I don't know what Forever Gone is, but I'll look into it, since I have a lot of lag and I just rebooted too. :(

I understood perfectly the first time. "F" and "G" were capitalized for a reason. Forever Gone was obviously the name for something, obviously some type of app.

I've downloaded the app and it's got good reviews on Google Play. Just worried about it being malware, Google do vet the stuff that they push out though Play right?

Google does vet apps pretty rigorously... while yes some sketchy apps show up from time to time, they are usually caught and removed very quickly, like within a day. Seeing as the app in question has been up for a long time and has some pretty positive reviews (always things you should look at!), I would not worry about this at all. That doesn't say it will definitely work for you, but it shouldn't be a cause for concern regarding malware, etc :)

Ok, well I'll give it a go and feedback to the forum.

Cool... another good idea is to click the developer's name in the Play Store and see what other apps they have available. I can quickly see this developer has a number of apps available, all with positive reviews, which is good to reassure you that you have nothing to worry about. Just more tips to make your Android life happier :)

First attempt went well until it got to the final 500Mb then it locked up the entire thing. Had to do a hard reset to get out of it. Will try again shortly.

I have a thread in the Amaze forum, "things to try before a factory reset," the tips apply here as well. Restart, wipe cache partition, boot in safe mode. Particularly that last one,, to determine if a utility is the problem.

Ok, took a bit of effort but finally it completed and seems to have improved things somewhat. Also managed to find an extra couple of hundred mb of space, which is nice.

great report, actually. glad the OP OP'd!!
even backward compatible with older 'droid. marked this one for my list.
