Major Security Flaw in Android OS

A really good reason to get gingerbread 2.3.4 sooner than later.

Sent from my HTC Thunderbolt.

Not sure if anyone else has been reading the information coming out pretty quickly after the first few articles but I'm glad I don't use public Wifi now.

Major security flaw affects Google Android phones - May. 18, 2011

As stated later in the article, it has already been patched server side (they are forcing the contacts and calendar apps to use HTTPS, and investigating other apps for the same issue).

This really isn't a big deal. Slow updates from manufacturers and carriers is a concern, but not for this particular issue.

Expecting privacy over unsecured wi-fi is not reasonable in the first place.

We'll hopefully have the GB update before the end of June and the issue will be gone entirely. In the meantime, Google has patched the servers.

maybe the push now for gingerbread will happen sooner, why send a "patch" then gingerbread? oh wait this is verizon we are talking about.
