that PowerOn folder is not in ThundeRom either. I guess it had to be removed to get rid of the sprint boot junk. still working on it

I seem to remember one of the first things done with TR was removing that startup sound (it was really annoying), so that's probably the reason why it's not there at all..

So you can't get it running on TR??? Would 1.7 make much difference?

I need to be more specific. I could not get the mp3 file to play at boot. I did achieve playing sound at boot when I went back to stock. The boot animation process that was describe earlier has worked in Lego Rom, ThundeRom, NRom, and stock Rom.

I'm on Zefie's CM7 and the custom boot animation I made doesn't seem to work.
I took the bootanimation.zip from /system/media, inserted my static frames (9 of them, overwriting the original 6), and saved.
I didn't change the desc.txt at all because I figured the one already in the zip would be okay.
However, when I overwrote the old bootanimation.zip in /system/media and rebooted, after the LG logo, I got a black screen instead of the boot logo.
The phone still boots fine, naturally, just the boot animation doesn't work.

I'll attach the original bootanimation and mine for comparison.
If anyone can help me, that'd be great :) Thanks!

Make sure that once you have placed your 9 frames that you highlight both the part0 folder and desc.txt file, select archive (using winrar) select radio button for zip and also from the drop down menu select store. then you can push the animation to /system/media using adb push bootanimation.zip /system/media. Also make sure the file name is " bootanimation.zip "

The problem turned out to be that I had to compress the zip file at Store-level compression, as you said. Thanks a bunch!

I have the same problem as above and I have it at store level compression. What am I doing wrong? Please help!

I have created a bunch of boot animations and set them up to display on a web page. Click on the preview of the boot animation to download the zip file.

MAKE SURE YOU REMOVE THE NUMBERS AT THE END OF THE ZIP FILE!!! The file must be named bootanimation.zip. I have tried a few of these and they worked fine but if you have problems with any let me know. I will be adding alot more in the near future....these are just some quickies I threw together.

King David's Righteous Boot Animations

Once again lemme know if you have problems/requests/whatever.

I got your email and fixed it for you. There was a part1 folder as well which I just removed and placed the pictures in the part0 folder. I then changed to the desc.txt file provided in this post as yours did not match that either. I'm guessing you wanted the dots to fill the remainder of the boot time so I made a bunch more dot pics but that still wasn't enough to fill the entire sequence. If you want just the dots to keep changing and not replay the entire thing you will basically need to copy, paste, and then rename the last few pictures over and over....and over.

Help getting only a black screen.

I have 20 png frames, would this be the correct desc.txt

320 480 20p 0 0 part0

Also is there a certain resolution/pixel the png's should be in.

Thank You

Never mind got it to work, had to add a return at the end . Now I want to add a power on sound that's MISSING, to go with the animation

I need some help with a custom boot animation that I created. I created a series of .png images from a video, rotated the images to the correct orientation, zipped (with store compression), but when I put the file in the /system/media folder I just get a blank screen (after the generic LG animated logo).

To make sure I was following the correct process, I have tested the custom boot animations and they worked fine. I tested the nexus, and kingdavid's bootanimation28.

Can anyone help me figure out what I am doing wrong?

[edit] I fixed the first problem I found... my desc txt file was named "desc.txt.txt". But it still will not load.

some things to check.....make sure there is one blank line at the end of your desc.txt file. also make sure there are no hidden files in your folders where the images are (ie: thumbs.db).

Thanks for the tip! I have added a blank line at the end of the desc.txt file, and confirmed there aren't any hidden files. But it is still not working.

This time when I rebooted, I got a looong black screen after the LG animation. Makes me think the system was trying to play the bootanimation, since normally the boot up time is a lil faster.
