making downloaded mp3 files a ring tone and notification sound

so i downloaded a ring tone and notification sound off of deviantart.com straight on my phone. how do i make it an actual ring tone and notification sound... im using astro file manager and tried to copy paste the files into the phones ringtones and notification folders but it wont let me do that. i also tried clicking the files and try to set it that way but the options aren't clickable. i also tried sending it as an email and as a text message and still nothing. can someone help me out? i did this on my incred 1 and it worked fine! thanks
