Dear all ,

Good evening.

I am a long time iPhone user (currently use 6s Plus ) and about to update device.

Turns out iphones now either have double the price they did 3 years ago, or they cost slightly more than they did but have even less ppi (XR) than they did 3 years ago. Well i ain't condoning either, so android here i come.

I can find deals on android phones all over (iphone prices are static in EU) and here are my choices :

\- Samsung Note 9

\- Huawei Mate 20 pro

\- Google Pixel 3 XL

In all honesty i clearly prefer the Note 9. However, i did play around with the devices in the store yesterday and the Note 9 camera felt slow in between pictures. It was like 1 second gap between shots, no matter how fast you tapped the shutter button. While on the other hand mate 20 pro was blazing fast shooter, but even the display unit suffered from green screen. Please help me choose my first android !

Welcome to Android Central! I always lean towards Pixels, due to the amazing camera software, unlimited Google Photos backups at original resolution (for 3 years), guaranteed major system updates for 3 years, and prompt monthly security patches for at least 3 years.

Hello! Good to join the community! This is nice to hear! Where i live the pixel is the priciest of all the 3 devices. But i am more interested about hardware issues.. so far pixel 1,2 and the larger ones were plagued by hardware problems (screens, camera glares, oveheats etc) . How is the pixel 3 XL in this regard? Any known peoblems?

I have a 2 XL, so can't directly comment. For what it's worth, I felt that the bad press of the Pixel 2 XL was overblown clickbait hype. It's true that there was a QC issue early on with some units, but I rarely see posts about hardware issues these days for the 2 or 2 XL. Mine has been great!

Great to hear.. so many things get blown out of proportion for nothing.. the whole no limit freedom of the net thing i guess. So far i equaly love all 3 of the devices. Even played with them some in the stores.. guess picking up a phone these days is serious shiet.. all great ones being €900+

I don't think you can go wrong with any of those phones. The Mate 20 Pro is supposed to have a phenomenal camera as well, and the phone itself has great specs. But you're saddled with EMUI, for better or worse (and I've read that with EMUI 9.0, you can't even install a 3rd party launcher like Nova any more). I can't comment on the Note9's shutter speed -- maybe there's some setting to improve that? Posting in the Note9 forum might get you a better answer.

Welcome to Android Central! Since you are being introduced to Android and to Google, I too would recommend the Pixel 3. Stock Android, guaranteed updates, and awesome gestures and camera. Let us know what you decide!

I agree..the Pixel would be the natural choice from switching from iOS to Android. keep us posted on your decision. and welcome
