After unlock note8 phone, I rotate phone to landscape and I see the usual 5 icons: phone, message, internet, playstore, camera. Phone still in landscape, I swipe up and then swipe left/right and cannot see all the app icons, about 10 to 20 app icons missing.

When the phone is portrait, I swipe up and I can see all app icons.

Do you experience the same thing? Why lesser app icons is shown when phone is landscape? What is the problem with my phone?

Thanks

Sure go to settings of the phone , then scroll down to Apps , tap that ,and scroll down to One UI home , tap that , go to storage and clear, data, cache and force stop.

I cannot find anything called [One UI] so I went to update my phone. I just updated my phone and phone no longer can rotate landscape when i am at the home screen (screen I see when I just unlock phone in portrait 5 bottom icons seen.)

After update my phone I still cannot see [One UI].

Now in the About Phone, Software Info, I see I have Android version 8.0.0, Samsung Experience Version 9.0

I'm sorry your on Android 8.0 Oreo still ? Should of been on 9.0 pie .
Anyhow try the name Samsung experience ?

How to get 9.0 pie? I only know installing an update when a notification auto appeared in my phone telling me an update is available and ask me to install it. I do not know how to get a new update myself.

Now Android version 8.0.0, Samsung Experience Version 9.0 I cannot rotate the phone to landscape while I am in home screen.

So my initial problem is no longer a problem since I cannot rotate to landscape.

I just cleared the data and cache of Samsung experience home

Are users using Android version 8.0.0, Samsung Experience Version 9.0 able to rotate home screen to landscape?

You can manually check by going into phone settings, scroll down to software updates and tap to see if any is available.

Make sure portrait mode or auto rotate is enable , then long press ant empty spot on home screen , youll see option for home screen settings , tap that and see if home screen rotate is enabled?

I followed your steps, I do not see any home screen rotate option.
